'This is a book which is extremely well written, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in literature, eighteenth century history, the roles of women or just enjoys a good story. The author successfully tells the story of Jane Austen’s origins, almost as if you were in the same room as the characters. '
'I thoroughly enjoyed reading this - I couldn’t put it down and finished it within a weekend. It’s extremely well researched, and vividly brings to life years of the Austen family. Whilst being based on real events and very informative, I came away with a real warmth for the characters.'
'The Austen family come to life as if you are living alongside them and each different brother and sister has a clear identity of their own. Lots of references to the social history of the time too.'
'Pure enjoyment.'
